Something Blue - Aquamarine
Aquamarine is a popular gemstone because it serves as the birthstone for the month of March. At Dower and Hall, we have noticed that aquamarie jewellery is a well-received gift for those born in March and also those looking for ‘something blue’ for their wedding day.
Geologically, these gems are found in granite pegmatites or from veins in metamorphic rocks. Most aquamarine gemstones are highly transparent and range within the colour range of greenish blue to pale blue. Historically, Aquamarine was used my roman sailors to protect them when they were out travelling by sea, it was believed to be a tailsman of fearlessness and protection. Additionally, its name, Aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marinus, meaning “water of the sea,” and refers to its ocean-like color and shimmering water like sparkle.
There are many benefits of wearing aquamarine jewellery, from its blue sparkle being subtly eye-catching to being incredibly versatile to wear with any outfit. Our Aquamarine jewellery is a firm favourite of our customers but also within our team (a couple of us have made note of what blue jewellery we want to wear on our wedding day!)
