It’s only been a couple of days since the Fashion World’s glitterati left London after viewing five days of catwalk shows in the Capital. With highlights including a Christopher Bailey’s rainbow themed departure from Burberry and HRH Queen Elizabeth’s appearance in the front row, it was quite an eventful few days! We’ve sifted through the many shows to bring you our top 5 trends and the jewellery we’ll be wearing to complement the looks!
We’d seen a glimpse of what was to come when the Burberry show invitations were sent out with a swatch of the reimagined traditional check print with a rainbow, showing Christopher Bailey’s intention to support the LGBTQ community with his final show for the brand. There was high anticipation, which has led to it being one of the most popular shows of the week and one that is bound to spawn many brightly coloured rainbow collections! From the check print to full fur coats, the rainbow was everywhere, but you can wear it in a subtler way, for those catwalk-free days, with a delicate rainbow of gemstones from our Twinkle collection. With up to eleven different hues in a single piece of jewellery, you can definitely wear the rainbow this season.
Earrings have been having their moment, from mismatched to Avant Garde, the latest jewels have been everything but subtle! On the catwalks of Erdem we saw pearls step away from their traditional image and bring a strong, defined look, while Marques Almeida brought mismatched art into jewellery. While we may not all be able to wear art to work or on the tube each day, there’s no denying that a strong earring adds drama to your look and can elevate a simple outfit into a red carpet worthy style! We’ve rounded up our favourites for wearable, yet statement style.
Millennial pink has been having its moment for a few seasons now and it doesn’t look likely to die anytime soon. From pastel hues to highlighter strokes there’s a pink out there for everyone. Roland Mouret and Roksanda Illincic have all chosen the shade to grace their catwalks this season. It may seem that the full look is for models only, but there’s no reason not to add a touch of the fresh and fun tone to your wardrobe. We love pink gemstones and there’s everything from large statement looks to delicate hints in our Twinkle collection, add a little rose gold to give it an even more millennial look!
RUFFLES & TEXTURE
It was all about volume this Fashion Week and it’s not just the music we mean. Ruffles were creating strong, yet flowing silhouettes at many shows, including Bora Aksu and Simone Rocha. Often a trend reserved for the Summer, but bringing some well-earned optimism and fun to the Winter collection, ruffles are a great way to add drama to an evening look. For those of us who (sadly) don’t grace the red carpet on a regular basis, accessories can be a much easier way to wear the trend! Our Waterfall collection is full of voluminous swirls to bring a touch of ruffle to your look. It’s all about texture, so even a subtle finish can bring your jewels to life in the way a ruffle can take a dress to a new level.
TINSEL & TASSELS
The catwalk proved the perfect place to show these sparkling fabrics in motion as designers like Simone Rocha, Ashish and Ports 1961 showed tassels in their collections. Reminiscent of the twenties with a touch of showgirl, these dresses are hard not smile in! Tassels adorned everything from the clothes themselves to sharp high heels and made for dramatic photographs and the models made their way down the catwalk. If you’d love to wear the look but they don’t quite work for the morning commute, then try a subtle touch with a tasselled or long jewel.
